 A visit to Twain Harte is a chance to experience quaint, charming, easy-going mountain life.  Twain Harte was named after the authors: Mark Twain & Bret Harte.  Twain Harte is about 2.5 to 3 hours away from most major Bay Area cities & the Sacramento and Napa areas.  Twain Harte is the "Heart of the Sierras" with a population of about 2,300 permanent residents, where we're surrounded by 60' tall pine trees and beautiful mountain lakes.  
     
Tuolumne County is the Gateway to the Stanislaus Forest and Yosemite.  

Twain Harte is the last town with various restaurants, shopping, and services before heading farther up Highway 108, eventually taking you over Sonora Pass into Nevada.  
Twain Harte is essentially an open, tree lined tunnel from historic Gold Country towns in the foothills, to the high Sierras.

  • Twain Harte Market -- Our local grocery has everything from a specialized cheese section, fresh deli, butcher department, great wine section, beer, firewood, charcoal, nice produce & they're doing great with adding vegan products!  Might be a bit more than Safeway & other Sonora grocery stores, but convenience, and saving time while on vacation is definitely worth a stop in at Twain Harte Market where you'll find just about anything you might've forgotten, or to stock up for your hiking & picnics!  I choose Twain Harte Market for my shopping needs all the time, plus, the staff is great and willing to help you find whatever you're looking for!  ​
  • Mountain Liquors -- This is your one stop shop for hard liquor, wine & beer in Twain Harte.  Locals & visitors make this their stop for fishing licenses, and their libations as they head off to the lakes, hiking, and their day trips all over while exploring Tuolumne County!
  • The Walk In Closet Consignment Boutique -- This is a wonderful little boutique shop here in Twain Harte!  Her items are incredible and incredibly priced!  She sells gently used (one can't even tell they're used), and some new items from local artists!  I definitely recommend you take a stroll through her Twain Harte boutique!  Follow her on Facebook and Instagram @thewalkinclosettwainharte 
  • Earthly Essentials -- This beautiful shop in the heart of downtown Twain Harte is full of lovely items, locally hand crafted jewelry, vegan soaps, crystals, home decor, and so much more!  Follow them on Facebook and on Instagram @earthlyessentialsvibrations 
  • 99 Cent Store in Sonora -- This store is like stepping into an adult play place!  They have everything from food: produce, frozen & dairy, breads, ethnic foods, spices, kitchens supplies, paper goods, holiday decor, reading glasses, gifts, household cleaning supplies, automotive supplies, baby food & supplies, first aide supplies, toys, gift wrapping items, and the list goes on and on.  Most all items are 99 Cents but some nicer items can go up to $4.99.  Great deals and one can wander through this store for a good couple of hours.  740 Mono Way, Sonora 95370. Open, Monday thru Friday:  8:00am - 9:00pm.
  • Super Walmart -- Click the link to see store hours & address in Sonora.  Being this is a Super Center, everything you could think of is under this roof.  From groceries, to clothes, jewelry, household items, to baby & pet needs, and more. 
  • ​Safeway -- Located in Sonora, this beautifully renovated store has everything from fresh produce to a bakery, deli & pharmacy + a Starbucks, one of 3 in Sonora...  ​
  • Save Mart -- There are 2 locations in Sonora, the closest is located at 1045 Mono Way, Sonora, the other store is located at 130 W. Stockton Street, Sonora
  • ​Mi Wuk General Market -- Located directly on HWY 108 in Mi Wuk, this is a great little general store to buy seasonal items such as sleds, floats, plus grab ice, beer, sodas, munchies, and gas/fuel up on your way to Pinecrest, Beardsley Lake, Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, Leland Meadows, or Kennedy Meadows Pack Station!  
  • Little Trees Dispensary:  4:20 Guests, Little Trees in Calaveras County will deliver to the cabin great products with excellent service!  $100 min. for Twain Harte delivery.
  • Hazy Bulldog Dispensary:  4:20 Guests, Located in Sonora, 15 minutes from our cabins, order online and pickup in store.
